Many of the LEDs we currently use in our high-brightness indicator lights are susceptible to damage by low-level Electro-Static Discharge (ESD). Currently these include all BLUE, all WHITE and the daylight-visible GREEN.

ESD damage may result from human or mechanical handling. Application electronics and drive conditions can also cause
ESD damage.

SoLiCo ships indicators using ESD-sensitive LEDs in special conductive, ESD-safe bags (Faraday cage) with standard electronics industry ESD labeling.

Store all ESD-sensitive electrical components in conductive packaging until use, preferably in the SoLiCo provided packaging. Alternative “ESD safe” storage and handling devices may lose their conductive properties over time.

ESD is “invisible” at the low voltages that can cause device failure – people cannot perceive the transfer of charge. Simply holding an ESD-sensitive device can be damaging. Take necessary handling precautions for both people and equipment that come in contact with ESD-sensitive parts.
